Letter from Mr. Burns -
Letter from Mrs. Peplinski - Friday 8th November
Dear all,
I am delighted to inform you that the Performing Arts Centre has been officially handed over to the Chair of the Governing Body this week and we are now in the process of planning the return back to the site.
The Governing Body held their first meeting in the Performing Arts Centre in order to celebrate the hand over and the first stage of our return. We will now use the Performing Arts Centre as a venue for meetings, Inset and other events. We are also planning to hold the Mock examinations in this venue and we will update you as soon as we have assessed the practicalities of this.
Work continues in the remainder of the school site and the Leadership Team is now planning the return with senior Caerphilly officers. It is a year since we left the site and the Council officers are co-coordinating works during weekends in order to ensure that the site is safe for reoccupation. The governors are delighted with the proactive approach of the Council officers and the contractors that are currently on site.
The Governing Body and CCBC propose to close the school to the learners on Friday, 13th December. Staff will be in school for the week in order to prepare the learning environment. English, Maths and Science teachers are planning to run some GCSE lessons in the Performing Arts Centre during the closure week.
The Y7 Social Evening will take place in the Performing Arts Centre on Wednesday, 13th November. The purpose of the evening is to enable parents and learners to meet with their Form Tutors and senior staff. We are also happy to welcome any other parents that would like to call in and see us to discuss any concerns.
Thank you for your continued support throughout the last year. I appreciate your faith in our school and the quality of learning experience that is provided for the learners. I have included some brief news items in this communication in order to keep you up to date with school life that continues to thrive in Ebbw Vale. Please do not hesitate to contact the Govering Body via email ( "> This email address is being protected from spambots. Yours faithfully,
Mrs Peplinski

Reflections from the Governors
During the Governing Body meeting held in the Performing Arts Centre, the governors felt very nostalgic about holding the first meeting back at home in Cwmcarn and they decided to write the following comments and reflections about the last year.
‘As a parent of a Y7 pupil, my son has yet to experience school life at CHS. However, due to the commitment of the staff and teachers, he has felt a sense of community since day one!’
Sarah Downs, Parent Governor.
‘It has been a unique year in the history of Cwmcarn and I will never forget the joy of returning back to our rightful home for this meeting.’
Gary Thomas, Chair of the Governing Body and former pupil.
‘I cannot believe that the staff and learners managed to achieve the exceptional performance in English and Mathematics despite the challenging year. It is amazing to think that Science improved by 18% and almost 90% of the learners achieved a C grade in Science.’
Councillor Denver Preece, Former Chair of the Governing Body.
