Year 10 assessment week -
The Governing Body
The Governing Body of Cwmcarn High School consists of parent governors, co-opted governors and teacher governors. All governors are elected for four years to the governing body. The Governing Body is then broken down into sub committees who discuss finance, discipline, appointments, reviews, and much more. Meetings are held on a monthly basis usually on a Tuesday evening. The meetings are formal with an elected chairperson. All aspects of the school are discussed from finance to school policies and the headteacher presents her report to the Governing Body. The Governing Body is taking a much more active role in the everyday running of the school but of course the credit for the schools success must go to Mrs. Peplinski, her staff and of course the pupils themselves.
The governors at Cwmcarn are delighted to be associated with the school for a number of reasons.
At the recent government inspection Cwmcarn High School was highly praised for both its academic results and how the pupils enjoyed being part of the school. As a result of the joint efforts of all the teaching and support staff, Cwmcarn High School is the best performing school in the Caerphilly Borough and is the best performing school in south east Wales. The school not only has excellent academic results but also achieves on the sporting front. Cwmcarn are the current holders of the Welsh School Girls Hockey Cup; a first time achievement.
Cwmcarn High School continues to grow from strength to strength. It is very satisfying to see the school improve still further. Even now the Performing Arts Centre is being developed alongside the new Languages Centre. Plans are also in place for a revamp of the existing sporting facilities. These projects will allow stronger links with the community which can only enhance the schools reputation.
The Governing Body would like to thank everyone at the school for making Cwmcarn High School one of the best comprehensive schools not only in Wales but in the UK
