Oxford Success

We are delighted to announce that three of our students have been offered places at the University of Oxford.

Kyle Butcher has been offered a place at Magdalen College to study PPE – Philosophy, Politics and Economics (he needs to achieve two A grades at A level, having already gained an A grade in A level Religious Studies in Year 11).

Caitlan Lloyd also has been offered a place at Magdalen College to study Law (he needs three A grades in his A levels).

Seb Pearson has a place at St Anne’s College to study Materials Science (he needs to achieve A* AA).

This is an amazing outcome and we are very proud of these learners’ achievement.

Indeed staff and students are thrilled overall with the superb offers that the Year 13 cohort has received to study across Britain next year. Other course offers include Primary Education, English Literature, Mathematics, Geography, Nursing, Journalism and Philosophy and Theology, to name but a few. University offers include Warwick, Exeter, Imperial College London, LSE, Cardiff, Birmingham, Leeds, Bath, Swansea and Bristol.

It will be a very busy few months for students and staff as they strive towards achieving their target grades.

This exciting news has already encouraged Year 12 students to begin looking at their future pathways. Cwmcarn High School has a long established history of preparing sixth form students for university and the world of work. It gives staff great pleasure that so many former students return to share their success stories with their teachers.
