PGL Adventure Weekend Osmington Bay 2014

on . Posted in 2013-2014

Last Friday lunch time 78 very excited Year 8 and 9 learners left Cwmcarn for Osmington Bay in Weymouth, Dorset. Along with 6 staff, the learners spent the weekend at a PGL adventure centre where they enjoyed many exciting activities. As well as archery, rock climbing and a find the flag hunt all of the learners enjoyed abseiling, zip wire, aero ball and the very popular giant swing!

On Saturday all the learners were taken to the National Sailing Academy in Portland where they got very wet designing, building and testing a raft made from scaffolding poles and barrels! Although the water was very cold the satisfaction of working as a team to float the raft was well worth it!
The accommodation at Osmington bay is excellent as is the food and everyone enjoyed three hot meals every day. The views from the cliff top setting are breathtaking and even the sun came out for us! The PGL staff were patient, entertaining and encouraging during all of the activities. All of the learners involved thoroughly enjoyed their adventure and are already looking forward to next Year!

This is what some of the learners said:
“I had a great time, I loved getting soaking wet on the raft building! The weather was glorious and the food was delicious!”
“The giant swing was amazing!”
“PGL was awesome, the activities were great and staying in a room with your friends just topped it off!”
“The instructors were funny and creative”
“The best activity was raft building because it involved a lot of team work; I felt like Bear Grylls!”
